He retired in 1972 from Potomac Edison Co., where he worked in display and photography. He worked part time at Fahrney's Card Shop; worked for Henry's Theater; and Fairchild.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth Leopard Smith; two daughters, Elaine Smith Coblentz of Jefferson, and Kathryn Smith Krieg of Bensalem, Pa.; a brother, Woodrow W. Smith of Homeland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. James A. Coblentz of Pioneer Baptist Church in Thurmont, Md., officiated.
