Mrs. Mary Caroline Buffington, widow of the late Alexander Buffington, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Barber, near Beaver Dam, Friday morning at 3.30 o'clock, 88 years of age. She is survived by two sons, Willliam E., of Baltimore and Ira B. of McKinstrey, and one daughter, Mrs. Barber. The funeral will meet at the house Sunday morning at 10 o'clock and services will be held at the Beaver Dam old order, Church of the Brethren. Interment in the cemetery adjoining. Powell and Albaugh, funeral directors.

2 October 2005: per Mrs. Buffington's great-great-granddaughter, the correct spelling of the daughter's name is Mrs. William Garber, not Barber.
