DEATH OF JACOB GANTZ, an old resident of this county, and a highly respected citizen, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilson BOTTORFF, near Packwood, on Wed., June 15. We quote the following facts from the Packwood Tribune: JACOB GANTZ was born March 7, 1811 in Washington Co., Penn. At the age of 22 he married Miss Ann KLNECKER, of Ohio. In 1850 they moved to Jefferson County, Iowa, about four miles southeast of Packwood, to remain until death broke up the family. Seven children, the two oldest of which died in infancy; John Andrew died in 1860, at the age of 13 years; Wm. Melanchton died in 1860 at the age of 15 years; then followed the death of Mrs. GANTZ, which occurred on Dec. 20, 1860. She died at 50 years of age. Mrs. Mary MORE died July 16, 1876 aged 38 years. Matilda, wife of Abraham WEYGANT and Belinda, wife of Wilson BOTTORFF, are still living... He was buried in the Brookville cemetery (sic. now a/k/a Brooks cemetery)...
