WEST FRIENDSHIP.MD - Iris Aker Via, age 85 of West Friendship, MD, and formerly of Pulaski, died Saturday June 19, 2004 at her West Friendship residence.
Born January 19, 1919 in Wytheville, Va, she was the daughter of the late Leslie F. Fisher Aker and John D.F. Aker.
She was a retired insurance supervisor for Hartford Insurance Co. in Towson, MD, and was a Baptist by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Via.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Patsy V. Boyd of West Friendship, MD, and Lana S. Queen of Sunset Beach, NC: 2 brothers; Herbert A. Aker of Baltimore, MD, and George Aker of Wythe Co.,Va.: 2 sisters; Mona Cross of Baltimore, MD, and Eunice Jakubowski of Va. Beach, Va. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday June 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Thorn Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends briefly after the service at the cemetery.
