He was born the son of the late Leonard H. Reavis and Laura A. Wood Reavis, on June 16, 1925 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and died September 6, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri. He was united in marriage August 31, 1958 in Peace Valley, Missouri to Anita Bennett, who preceded him in death November 3, 2008. He is survived by one son, Gary Reavis and wife, Amy, West Plains; one brother, Gene Reavis, Pueblo, Colorado; two grandchildren, Tyler Reavis and Austin Reavis, West Plains, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and one son, Kent Reavis. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church of West Plains, Missouri. He attended his elementary years at Lanton Elementary School and graduated with the class of 1943 from West Plains High School. He was a member of the local Gideon Chapter in West Plains, served for twelve years on the Junction Hill School Board, and had been a deacon at the New Hope Baptist Church for several years. He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in England during WWII. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon's and can be left at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
