Lois was born on July 11, 1924, to the late Grover and Lydia (Burbrink) Kiel in Columbus and later moved to Vincennes. She married Gerhard Burge on Aug. 3, 1952, and they moved to Kentland.
Lois was a wonderful homemaker to her husband and four children. She also did bookkeeping at the G Burge Real Estate office in Kentland. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Goodland, where she had been active in the Ladies Aid Ministry. She was also a scout leader and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She will be missed by her family, Janet (Jerry) Schuh of Marion; Marlys (Rick) Bridgeman of Kentland; Dan Burge of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Ross, Nicole, Heather Aaron, Ryan and Alyssa; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard in 1997; and a daughter, Karen (Lowell) Cluver in 2001.
Services are at 3 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 217 W. Jasper St., Goodland, with Pastor David Mueller officiating. Burial will follow funeral services in Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the church prior to services.
