CORYDON, Ind. - Samuel ''Sam'' Matthews, 74, of Corydon, Ind., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993, at his home. He was born in Cloverport, was a powerhouse foreman for Olin Chemical Co. in Brandenburg before retiring, and was a member of First Capitol Christian Church in Corydon. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Jackson Matthews; two sons, David Matthews Sr. of Birmingham, Ala., and Sam Matthews Jr. of Louisville; two daughters, Marjorie Wilson of Hawesville and Renee Matthews of Louisville; a stepdaughter, Sue Wyman of Columbus, Ind.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Matthews of Stephensport, Willard Matthews of Brandenburg and Jess Matthews of Schererville, Ind.; and a sister, Hazel Frank of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Services are at 1 p.m. EST Sunday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon. Burial in New Providence Cemetery in Scottsburg, Ind.
