Daughter of Mary Malinda (Gartman) & Reuben Jacob Price.
Granddaughter of Sara Sally Lou (Oswalt) & Christian Price.

Minnie was born, raised & married in Priceville. She gave birth to twin girls while in Priceville; but knew that the twins would never survive so they were given the same name. One lived a bit longer than the other; both were buried in the family cemetery close by.

In October of 1903 she and her husband bought farmland - "the old Mitchell place" from Sallie O Mitchell (being all of the original 200 acre tract on the West side of Little Rocky Creek and containing 174 1/2 ...bounded by lands of Mrs. S.O. Mitchell, W.B. Holley, P.Langford & Saluda River.
After the purchase of this land, money was so tight that she often said she wore the same shoes and dress for a year to church.

On this land they grew most all they needed including rice.
After her husband's death 30 1/10 acres were sold to the "Lexington Water Power Company) because of the dam.

This house had carbide lighting - the carbide shed was behind the home.
Ira, an excellent carpenter, added two outer rooms on the front of the house. Upon entering the home, the sitting room was to the right. There was a Victrola, comfortable chairs and a "feinting" couch (green). It was in this room that her body lay in state before her burial.
On the right past the sitting room was her bedroom. She never owned a television, but spent time reading her Bible before bedtime - in the same rocker pictured - with the cotton pad behind her head.
Across from her bedroom was the dining area that contained a round table with a lazy-susan. Minnie loved baking and always had something for visitors.
Her father in law spent some time staying with her after her mother-in-law's death. And her brother-in-law died in her home. He caught flu, rode a horse in the rain to her home. She tended him til his death.
Minnie was a devout Christian and stayed active until the day before her death when she felt ill. She kept her yard swept, tended her chickens, worked the garden, cooked, etc.
