MARIETTA —
Services for Bobbye J. Rambo Downing, 77, of Moreno Valley, Calif., will be conducted at noon on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in the Chapel of the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Officiating will be the Rev. James Johnson. Interment will follow in Prairieview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.


Bobbye was born in Texarkana, Ark., on Sept. 21, 1935, the daughter of Easop and Melinda Abner Rambo. She passed away on Sept. 4, 2013 in Riverside, Calif.


Bobbye spent her youth growing up in Marietta. She met Leroy Downing and moved to Oklahoma City, where they were married. Bobbye would later relocate to Oakland, Calif., with her family and sister, Juanita Rambo Dailey.


She moved to Compton, Calif., to pursue a career as a licensed vocational nurse. Bobbye was employed at St. Frances Medical Center. Later she moved back to Oakland to care for her sister, Juanita Rambo Dailey. She was then employed at John George Mental Hospital as an LVN Registered Nurse in the psychiatric department.


Bobbye was an unselfish and giving person. She was a great communicator and helped anyone who came to her in need. She was a devout Christian and Eastern Star. She enjoyed attending Friendship Christian Fellowship Church.


Preceding her in death were her parents, Easop and Melinda Abner Rambo; her husband, Leroy Downing; stepmother, Metha Rambo; four brothers, Billy Rambo, Alvin Rambo, Benjamin Rambo and Morris Rambo; two sisters, Juanita Rambo Dailey and Eva Rambo Douglas; and adopted sister, Mary Lee Talley.


Bobbye is survived by her six sons, Marcus Downing, Royce Downing, Myron Hawkins and wife, Deborah, James Kelly, Victor Brown and Kermit Kirby and wife, Tamani; three daughters, Cherylon Downing, Diedre Jones and husband, Darrell and Keschia Eddy and her husband, Raymond; six brothers, Eugene Rambo and wife, Janet of Marietta, Rueben Rambo and Alice of Gainesville, Texas, Randall Rambo, also of Marietta, Caesar Rambo and wife, Reponzel of Oklahoma City, and Nelson Rambo and wife, Charlotte of Ardmore; three sisters, Janet Johnson of Shreveport, La., Dorothy Willis and husband, Michael of Marietta and Neva Coleman, also of Marietta; 12 granddaughters, Lashawn Ingraham Downing, Nicobye Downing, Tyeshia Carter, Kayla Kelly, Jameschia Wade, Taneschia Carter, Jasmine Wade, Jerrica Web, Kania Banks Kirby, Kanisha Banks Kirby, Kayla Kirby and Janai Brown; seven grandsons, Jarmane Downing, Ivan Downing, Rene Downing, Darrell Jones, Marcus Brown, Denzell Jones and Damon Survine Jr.; 15 great-grandchildren, Devonte Baines, Jaheim Williams, Jaliyah Fuller, Xavier Williams, Marcus Brown Jr., Jariah Radford, Marshawn Hunter, Anaies Downing, Fredric Combs, Mulani Brown, Devine Thomas, Destiny Thomas, Teala Downing, Avaa Price and Jarmane Downing Jr.; 15 step-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.


Viewing will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
