Russell C. Ward, 73, of Columbia died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996, at Columbia
Regional Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Albert Brown officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the
funeral home.

Mr. Ward was born on May 14, 1923, in Millersburg to Berry and Grace Coons
Ward.

He married Margaret Kohrs on Nov. 17, 1962, in Columbia, and she survives.

He graduated from Hickman High School in 1941 and served on the USS Alnita in
the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church
and was co-owner and operator of Ward's Trucking Service.

Survivors also include a daughter, Lynn Huss of Columbia; two sons, Daryl
Strain of Columbia and Redgie Ward of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; a brother,
Gene Ward of Columbia; two sisters, Anna Sue Lentz of Columbia and Marjorie
Shipe of Polson, Mont.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
