Benjamin Ball was born about 1790, possibly in Virginia. He emigrated with a number of other families from Abbeville County, South Carolina to Franklin County, Indiana in 1824-5. The family moved on to Fayette County, Indiana after a time. A family history says that he was buried about four miles south of Brookville, so it is likely that he died before the family moved on to Fayette County. Some genealogies say that Benjamin was married twice with his first wife dying before his move to Indiana. It is possible that children from this first marriage stayed in South Carolina. His second wife, Nancy came Indiana with him and four children, the youngest of whom, George Washington, was only six months old. The second wife's maiden name was likely Petty, though some genealogies list her name as Konklin or Conklin.
