Death of Jeff Guy

Many friends of J.C. Guy, of Custer county, will be pained to learn of the death of his son Jeff, who died at Poplar river, on the Manitoba road, on the 17th inst., of measles.
Jeff D. Guy was born in Colorado, July 28, 1861, and therefore was nearly 26 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. J.C. Guy and family moved to Montana in 1863, residing some time in Virginia City, from whence they moved to Gallatin valley and soon after to Bozeman, where Jeff grew to manhood, respected trusted and beloved by all who knew him. He was particularly truthful, honest, industrious, open-hearted and genial. In his deportment he was always kind to parents and companions. For several years past the family has made their home in Custer county, near the spot where Fort Pease once stood. Jeff has been engaged in stock raising in that locality with his father and brothers. The winter of '85-86 he spent in Helena attending the Helena Business College. There are many people in Montana who will deeply sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Guy, who it is unnecessary to state are almost brokenhearted over the untimely death of their darling boy.
