Bathsheba Borne was the great-grand daughter of Mayflower passengers John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley. [Bathsheba Bourne=>Desire Chipman=>Hope Howland=>John Howland and his wife Elizabeth Tilley.] Elizabeth Tilley's parents, John Tilley & Joan Hurst Tilley, were also Mayflower passengers, but did not survive the first winter in the New World. Bathsheba was the daughter of Judge Melatiah Bourne and Desire Chipman.

married first husband-William Newcomb in 1722 and bore eight children (surname Newcomb):

married second husband Brigadier General Timothy Ruggles on 9/18/1736 and bore at least seven children (surname Ruggles):
Martha b. 8/10/1737 (m. John Tufts)
Timothy b. 1/7/1739 (Lieutenant in Seven Years War, moved to Nova Scotia to join his father and brothers, Richard and John, after the death of his mother) m. Sarah Dwight 7/30/1766, died in Nova Scotia buried in Bellisle Episcopal Cemetery
Mary b.2/10/1740 m. Dr. John Green, died 1814
John b. 9/30/1742, m. Hannah Sackett 2/24/1779 d. 1821
Richard b. 3/4/1744, m. Welthy Hathaway 5/25/1771, d. 1832
Bathsheba b. 2/13/1746, hanged 7/2/1778 along with three others for killing her husband Joshua Spooner. She was carrying the child of her paramour Ezra Ross, also hanged on 7/2/1778 along with two other men; all four were convicted of the murder of Spooner. There is some written conjecture that her father had arranged her marriage to prevent her from being exiled with him.
