Mrs. Nellie Mae Hughes, 54, of 555 Langley Boulevard, died Thursday at 10 p.m. in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was the wife of Robert W. Hughes and the daughter of Mrs. Clara Virginia Whitehurst and the late John L. Whitehurst.
She was a native of Norfolk and resided here a few months.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Peoples, of Norfolk, five sisters, Mrs. R. W. Elam, Mrs. E. Hanley and Mrs. P. Edwards, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. L. H. Atkinson and Mrs. H.R. Keel, of Portsmouth, and a brother George Whitehurst, of Norfolk.
The body was taken to the Sturtevant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
