She was the wife of nineteenth century Philadelphia saw maker Henry Disston. She shared the vision of his ideal village. The couple married on November 9, 1843. She built Disston Memorial Presbyterian Church to honor her husband, a devout Presbyterian. Mary and Disston had five sons: Hamilton, Albert H., Horace C., William, and Jacob S.
