She was born in Cass County, near Newmansville, on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1889, daughter of Wesley and Lois Robinson Mathew. While she was yet young her father retired from the farm and she came to Petersburg with her parents and spent most of her life in this community. She was married on Oct. 20, 1915 to Ora L. Davis and they lived on one of the Mathew farms north of Petersburg for several years, then came back to the city and purchased the home at 104 West Lincoln where both spent the remainder of their lives.
Mr. Davis preceded his wife in death on May 4, 1960 and their only son, Dr. William W. Davis of Quincy died on June 1, 1968. She is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. William (Susan) McCormick of Washington, D.C., and William L. and Mark H. Davis, both of Qunicy.
Mrs. Davis was an active member for many years of Central Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 19, Rev. Hayward McCollough officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with Hurley Funeral Home in charge.
