Tom Adkins, age 73, of Corbin, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Thomas Adkins, Sr., and Lillie White Adkins.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Prewitt Adkins, of Corbin; three daughters, Phyllis Monhollen of Corbin, Kathy Smith and her husband, Danny, of Corbin and Sharon White and her husband, Dr. Jack, of Olive Branch, Mississippi; a son, the Rev. Edwin Thomas Adkins and his wife, Lori, of Union; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Lucille Viator of Powell, Tennessee, Bernice Lenz and her husband, Henry, of Tucson, Arizona and Betty Taylor of Lexington; a brother, Oscar Adkins and his wife, Dorothy, of Merced, California; a special aunt, Retha Marsee, of Williamsburg, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brown of Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prewitt of Williamsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Otton Prewitt of Hamilton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bullock of Corbin and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Prewitt of Corbin; and a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.

He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Corbin for more than 45 years. He was a member of the Williamsburg High School Hall of Fame in football and played basketball at Cumberland College in 1951. Tom was a Veteran, serving in the United States Army in Korea with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Central Baptist Church of Corbin with the Rev. Darren Gaddis and Dr. Don Mathes officiating.

Burial will be in the Piney Grove Methodist Cemetery, Goldbug, KY.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Adkins, Travis Monhollen, Eric Adkins, Brandon Lambdin, Matthew White, John Thomas Smith, Benjamin White, Zachary Prewitt and Ryan Ray.
