From AMIDON FAMILY: A RECORD OF THE DESCENDANTS OF ROGER AMADOWNE OF REHOBOTH, MASS by Frank Eugene Best: Jacob's name "appears in the catalogue of Harvard among the graduates of the class of 1775. He enlisted early in the Revolutionary war and was at the battle of Bunker Hill. He was taken prisoner near New York City and was for twenty-eight months confined on board a prison ship. In December 1782, he purchased land in Chesterfield, N.H., where he engaged in trade and was Town Clerk from 1795-1799, and Selectman from 1785-1797. His name was placed on the pension roll in 1833."
