In the spring of 1969, a trip to Peace River resulted in a teaching position at Glenmary High School later that same year. He continued teaching at Glenmary until his retirement in 1986.
In 2002 he suffered a stroke and lost his ability to speak, but still found ways to communicate. In 2007 he moved into Sutherland Place in Peace River. This July he and Irene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversay surrounded by family and friends. He passed away on August 15, 2010.
He leaves to mourn: his wife Irene, his children: Greg Mines, Bruce (Julie Ann) Mines, Elaine (Eric) Konowalyk, Margaret (Paul) Martineau, Jacqueline Scott, Bill (Jackie) Mines, Kevin (Jackie) Mines, Joe (Dorrene) Mines. Grandchildren and great grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
