Cecilia Ashton Taylor NORFOLK
Cecilia Ashton Taylor died in her home June 30, 2005. She was born in Norfolk Oct. 18, 1905, the daughter of Cecilia Ashton and Richard C. Taylor. She was the widow of the late Judge J. Hume Taylor. She is survived by her three children, Cecilia Taylor Hickerson and her husband John C. Hickerson Jr., Judge Lydia Calvert Taylor and J. Hume Taylor Jr. and his wife Martha P. Taylor, all of Norfolk. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Mary Hume Elder, Ann Taylor Carney, John C. Hickerson III, Cecilia A. Sotomayor, Francesca S. Greene, Martha T. Kane, Richard C. Taylor and Mary P. Taylor; and 10 greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Sally P.T. Abeles, Elizabeth T. Little and Virginia K. Taylor; and by her grandson, John H. Taylor III. A private family burial service will be held later in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. If desired, contributions may be made to the Taylor Sisters Fund for the Norfolk Public Library, c/o The Norfolk Foundation, 1410 Bank of America Center, Norfolk, VA 23510 or to a charity of choice.
