VALLEJO, CA. - Dorothy Aliene Conklin Enloe passed away peacefully on July 16, 2009, in Vallejo with her granddaughter at her side. She was 88 years old. She was born in Longmont, Colo. on Aug.13, 1920, the second oldest of four and the only daughter of Albert A. Conklin and Fannie Victoria Carlow Conklin. In her earlier years, Dorothy received her education in Utah and California, mainly in Modoc county and Cedarville. She was living in Roseville, Calif. when at 27 years old she was widowed by her husband James Sweeney. It was at this time, 1948 that she moved to Napa..


For the next 45 years 2039 W. Pueblo Ave. was her home where family memories were made. She married Stephen J. Enloe in 1960 in Minden, Nev. and later their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Napa 3rd Ward. Her husband, Steve, passed away in 1992. In 1993, she moved to Oaktree Vineyards where she lived very independently for 10 years, enjoying her rose garden and visiting old friends and making many new ones. In 2003, she moved to the home of her granddaughter Sue. When she required a higher level of support, she was lovingly cared for by Flores Baylen and her staff in a private care home in Vallejo (Avelina Francesca Care Homes). Amongst the many memories, her grandchildren will always remember her for would be her wonderful pies. She loved to bake. Dorothy's church was very important to her and she looked forward to sitting with the girls on Sundays..


Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Steve; her daughter, Nancy Stewart; brothers, Oscar, Dalton and Gale Conklin; and her oldest great-grandson, Paul Phillips. She is survived by her son Robert Sweeney of Oroville, Calif., daughter, Patricia Martinez of Canon City, Colo., adopted son, Fred Lundgren, sister-in-law, Alene Conklin of Boise, Idaho, 14 grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews..


A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2590 Trower Ave., Napa, with committal following in Tulocay Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service in the church's Relief Society Room. Contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to any Alzheimer's support organization.
