Malinda Margaret McCoy Fraley was the daughter of William and Sarah James Fraley, and granddaughter of John and Margaret Jackson McCoy, and Samuel and Pernina Dean James. On December 10, 1857, in Floyd County, she married William H. "Bud" Fraley, son of John and Lowezy Lawhorn Fraley, and grandson of Sherd and Dicey Mayo Lawhorn. (Kentucky Marriage Records says they were married on November 11, 1857, but a notebook Malinda left for Diney and Harvey Lowe lists their marriage date as December 10, 1857. Perhaps the license was issued on November 11?) Their children were Stephen Lewis, Mary E., Sarah L., Susannah Millie, and William Thomas "Sonny."
Malinda Margaret's death certificate spells her name incorrectly as Merinda. (She did have a sister Marinda Caroline who did not marry a Fraley.) The information, supplied by her daughter Sarah Jude, is sketchy, and says that her body was released to Dave Jude and implies that she was to be buried at Petercave Cemetery, but she was actually taken back to the Fraley-Cornette Cemetery on Johns Creek in Floyd County to be buried with her husband William H. Fraley, their daughter Susannah Millie Fraley Lowe, and granddaughter Emy Ina Margaret Lowe.
