The family name has also been spelled as "Wickoff", but the spelling changed in Joseph's time to "Wyckoff".

He married Elizabeth Baldridge on 08 Jan 1829 in Romulus, Seneca, New York and had 5 children: 1) Peter 2) Ann Baldridge 3) Caroline Elizabeth, 4) John Markham, and 5) Alexander Baldridge.

Joseph was a Justice of the Peace (see Citation 1) for twenty years and was well known and liked throughout the county. He was a man of good judgement and an "unusually intelligent farmer. He received a premium at one of the county fairs for the best cultivated farm in the county." (see Citation 2)
