Howard Dean Long, the son of Roger Arthur and Abbie Violet (Lyon) Long, was born on March 29, 1924, in Creston, Iowa. He entered eternal rest on August 22, 2013 at the Afton Care Center, at the age of eighty-nine years. On July 29, 1956 he married Phyllis C. Schrodt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Long in 2011; his son, Stephen Long; his granddaughter, Cory Jones; his sister, Winifred Burdette; and his brother, Raymond Long.
