Obituary, Ulysses Dispatch, Feb 8, 1923:

Daniel Reynolds Called by Death

Daniel Reynolds was born in New York and lived there until 14 years of age when, with his parents he came to Nebraska, where his father took a homestead near Staplehurst where the family resided throughout the years. Thursday, the deceased had been a resident of Nebraska for forty-eight years, as he was 62 years of age at his passing.

He was a son of the late Thomas Reynolds and leaves two brothers to mourn his departure, James Reynolds of Moorefield, Nebraska and Thomas of Lincoln, together with several cousins and their families. His parents and two brothers preceded him to the other world.

Mr. Reynolds was an agriculturist and was never married. During the past few years he had not been actively engaged in agricultural pursuits and lived at the Staplehurst hotel. One year ago his health failed but he kept up and about until quite recently when he went to Moorefield to visit his brother James and family where he grew suddenly worse, death resulting Feb. 3rd. at his brothers' home. His ailment was leakage of the heart with complications.

Deceased leaves a wide circle of friends who sincerely regret his going and who will ever remember his many deeds of kindness coupled with an extraordinary love for little children with whom he spent many happy hours. it has been said of him that "every one who know him was his friend"- a splednid tribute to his memory.

The remains were brought to Ulysses by train Tuesday evening where the hearse in waiting conveyed them to the Nihill home.

On Wednesday morning at ten o'clock the funeral services were held at St. Mary's church, Rev. Father Loughram officiating at the requiem High Mass which was celebrated for the repose of his soul. Many old friends were present to pay last respects. The remains were laid to rest in the St Mary's cemetery near town.

The out of town relatives and friends present at the funeral were Mrs. and Mrs. James Reynolds and family of Moorefield; Mrs. and Mrs. Thos. Reynolds of Lincoln; Tom Walsh, Larry Timoney and John Kelly of York, and Mrs. Mary Walsh and sons, Matt, George, Edward, Lee, and Ross and their families, of Ulysses.
