A memorial service for John Andrew Falkenrath of Hobbs, formerly of San Jose, Calif., was held at noon, Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Chapel of Hope Funeral, which was in charge of arrangements. Cremation will take place at a later date. Mr. Falkenrath, 49, died May 27, 2005, at La Junta, Colo. He was born Aug. 7, 1955, at Caster Valley, Calif. He married Melissa Hale Falkenrath on March 26, 1983, in Reno, Nevada. He was at work on a communication tower in Colorado at the time. He grew up the San Francisco Bay area, attended grade and high school in San Lorenzo, Calif. He joined the Air Force after high school and served during the later part of the Vietnam War. During his service, he was trained as an electronics technician and he remained in that occupation for the rest of his life. He worked in increasingly responsible positions in the San Jose "Silicon Valley"before moving his family toHobbs, N.M. At the time of his death, he was an independent contractor working on installations of equipment and towers. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Falkenrath of the home; his parents, Clara and John Falkenrath of Milwaukie, Ore.; two sons, John C. Falkenrath of Livermore, Calif., and Samuel James Falkenrath of Hobbs; daughter Veronica Rose Falkenrath of Hobbs; sister Susan Grace Falkenrath of Mill Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, Emily and John C. Falkenrath Jr. of Livermore, Calif.; father- and mother-inlaw Fletcher and Rose Hale of Mill Valley, Calif.; Aunt Mimi Atkinson of San Lorenzo; and numerous family members who loved him. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William, who died in 1977, and Bob, who died in 2001 and was his best friend.
