Alfred Logston, 77, of Cathlamet, died July 25, 2011, at his Elochoman Valley home. He was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Hiwasse, AR, to Charles and Ruth Green Logston.

He graduated from high school in Rupert, ID, in 1950, served in the Navy during the Korean War. In 1957 he started working for Bell Telephone Company in Moses Lake, WA. He and his wife moved to Cathlamet in 1992 from Kent, and in 1993 he started Jack's Telephone Service, which he continued until retiring in 2009. He loved the Lord and followed a Christian path in his everyday life. He was a loving husband, devoted father, generous grandpa, and enjoyed quality time with his family more than anything. He had the ability to build, repair and fix anything.

On Dec. 31, 1955, he married Sharon Bourne, who survives, with a son, David Logston, of Milwaukie, OR; two daughters, Dianne Walters of Sheridan, OR, and Kelly Logston of Longview; two brothers, Steve and John Logston; five grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lucille Nelson; a sister-in-law, Shirlee Lamourex; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased is a son, Jonathan Logston, in 2003; four sisters; and two brothers.
