ALLGYER. - Barbara Allgyer was born Feb. 4, 1822, in Mifflin Co., Pa., where she spent the greater part of her life. In 1874 she moved with her husband, Joseph Allgyer, and family to Wayne Co., Ohio. They moved to Champaign Co., Ohio, in 1875, where she departed this life at the home of her son, S. E. Allgyer, Feb. 3, 1902, at the advanced age of a few hours less than 80 years. In 1901 she visited friends in Pennsylvania four and one-half months, and enjoyed good health until ten days prior to her death, which was caused by pneumonia. She was the mother of seven children, two of whom with her husband preceded her to the heavenly home. She united with the Amish Mennonite church in her early life, and was a consistent member. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed in her home and by her friends. But we hope our loss will be her eternal gain, as she was perfectly resigned to the Lord's will, and died with a bright hope of immortal glory. Her surviving children were all present at her funeral, which was held at the Oak Grove M. H., Feb. 5th at eleven A. M. Services were conducted by J. J. Warye, Jonas Yoder and David Hostetler, from Rev. 7:16, 17. Interment in the Hooley graveyard.

Drive north from Urbana, Ohio, on State Route 68. South of West Liberty, Ohio, turn east or right onto Mennonite Church Road. You will pass the present day Oak Grove church. When Mennonite Church Road dead ends, turn left or go north on Game Farm Road. Game Farm Road curves around and dead ends into North Ludlow Road. Turn right or go south on North Ludlow to get to the cemetery. It will be on the west side of the road, which is South of 6360 & north of 6218 on North Ludlow Road.

The deed for the first cemetery and building site (Hooley Cemetery, Oak Grove Mennonite Church) in Champaign county, Ohio, was made to the "Omish [sic] Society" in 1857. Oak Grove Cemetery was originally called Hooley Cemetery in 1896 also known as Ludlow cemetery, Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery.
The cemetery is owned and maintained today by Oak Grove Mennonite Church, at 1525 Mennonite Church Road, West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Contact: Merle Hostetler, sexton at 937-465-4749. This cemetery is exceptionally well maintained, groomed, mowed, and repairs are made as needed.
I transcribed this cemetery from the tombstones from Aug-Nov 2004. I also compared these readings with the sexton files and some obits. This contains all known and visible burials to the best of my knowledge up to this date.
