THE PARIS NEWS Tue., Apr. 11, 1989. 'Lavon W. Landers, 62, 726 W. Sherman, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 6:48 p.m. Monday, April 10. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Landers was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Lamar County, a son of Ralph Landers and Elsie Banks Landers. He attended schools in Deport and served in the Navy during World War II. He married Dovie Wilkerson on Jan. 17, 1948. He returned to the Navy in 1950 and served during the Korean War. He had been an electrician here for 30 years. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Vickie Hodge of Rt. 1, Powderly; one son, Ronnie Landers of Carrollton; five grandchildren; his mother who lives in Powderly; and two brothers, Jackie Landers of Powderly and Ralph L. Landers of Bay City.'
