Our Town
Stephen Bentley (1800-1872) and Dianna Bentley (1798-1898) who came here from Saratoga county in 1822 and settled in the western part of town having a farm on what is now known as the Norton Road. Stephen Bentley later lived in the house that stood at the corner of Ellisburg and Franklin street...and it was at this Ellisburg street residence that both Henry and Cynthia Iived at the time of their death.

From the diaries of my paternal ancestor, Lewis L. Wilder: Entry in diary 19 July 1878...Died at Sandy Creek July 17 of old age Stephen Bently age 77 years.
