Mrs. Chaffin was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Hogansville to the late Harry and Annie Mae Spradlin Barton. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, and retired as assistant business manager at LaGrange College after 22 years. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and a former Girl Scout leader, and was a charter member and past president of the Hogansville Pilot Club.
A funeral will be held today, May 7, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville. The Rev. Max McCord will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2 today. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill, Stewart, Hollis, and Lee Barton, Jerome Chaffin, and Dill Williams. Donations in Mrs. Chaffin's memory may be made to the Building Fund of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 176, Hogansville.
Surviving are her husband, Travis Chaffin; son Tab Chaffin and his wife Angela of Hogansville; sister and brother-in-law Harriette and Jim Brown of Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Barton of Colfax, Wash., Bob and Beverly Barton of Dahlonega, and Jerry and Pat Barton of Dunwoody; grandchildren Travis Chaffin III and Tabitha Chaffin, of Hogansville; and aunts and uncle Frank and Laconia Barton and Corrie Maw Spradlin, all of Hogansville.
