Esther Jane Carter was the daughter of Lewis Madden and Harriet (Knight) Carter. She died at age 97 at the Village of Westerville Retirement Center, Westerville, but lived many years in Bexley, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Eugene D. Allison and Dr. Vance T. Stewart, brothers Earl Carter and Howard Carter, sisters Ruth Carter Hoffman, Dorothy Carter Damsel, and Harriet T.Carter. Survived by a daughter, son-in-law, grandson, step-grandson,and great-grandson, one sister,and loving nieces and nephews. Esther retired from Ohio Dominican University in 1977. She loved winters in Florida, entertaining friends and playing scrabble and cards. She will be remembered for her great zest for life and for the joy she brought to those she drew close.

Esther's first marriage was to Eugene D. Allison in December, 1935. Her second marriage was to Vance Thomas Stewart on December 21, 1977. Both marriages occured in Franklin County, Ohio.
