Mr. Edward H. Marhanka, 79, R.R.3, Seymour, died Wednesday at 11 p.m. in the Jackson County Hospital in Seymour.
Mr. Marhanka was born May 27, 1902, in Crothersville. He was first married in 1922 to Dora Johnson, and she preceded him in death. He married Pearl Hysar Feb. 4, 1931, in Jeffersonville, and she survives, with one son, Paddy Marhanka, Greensburg; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Fred Marhanka, Phoenix, Ariz., and Frank Marhanka, Florissant, Mo.; two sisters: Mrs. Ethel Morris, El Centro, Calif., and Mrs. Lavon Mozak, Celina, Ohio.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had been in the shoe repair business for over 50 years when he retired in 1974. He was a member of the American Legion post in Seymour, the Jackson Lodge F & AM in Seymour, the Commandery No. 58 of Knights Templar, Seymour Council No. 38 of the Royal and Select Masons and the Eagles Lodge in Seymour.
The services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Burkholder Funeral Home Chapel in Seymour with burial in th Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday. Those wishing to give memorials may designate them to the Heart Fund.
