George William Everest, 76, of Cathlamet, died Aug. 31, 1991 in a Cathlamet Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 23, 1915, son of Ralph M. and Elsie May Walker Everest, in Bemidji, MN.

He was raised in the Cathlamet area, graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1934, and worked as an electrician for Pacific Gas & Electric in Santa Rosa, CA, for 25 years, before retiring and moving back to Cathlamet in 1987. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Surviving are two sisters, Carol Smith of Cathlamet, and Marian Vik of Puget Island; a brother, Ralph Marshall Everest of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be in Dowling Chapel, Cathlamet, at 1 pm Wednesday with Rev. Steve Mandeville officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cathlamet.
