Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, James Alvin "Al" Campbell, passed from this life on Saturday, September 26, 1998 after several years of quietly suffering from cancer.

Al was born April 13, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of James S. and Bertha Frederickson Campbell. He graduated from West High School.

A faithful member of the L.D.S. Church, Al served a full-time mission to the British Isles until the war, and then finished his mission in the Central States. He also served four stake missions. He married Flora Owens on August 14, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Al enjoyed raising poultry, and owned a poultry farm in Buhl, Idaho for several years. In Salt Lake he was a champion pigeon racer until his health no longer permitted him to participate. In earlier years he loved to go fishing with his family and friends. He retired from Young Electric Sign Co. in 1982.

Al is survived by his wife, Flora; four sons, Dennis (Vie) Campbell, Draper, Darryl (Debi) Campbell, Sandy, Ronald (Cheryl) Campbell, Farmington, Randy (Beth) Campbell, Sandy; one daughter, Jolene (Randel) Wightman, Sandy; twenty-three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille (Charles) Vaughan, Ogden; a brother, Gordon (Darlene) Campbell, Holladay; a brother-in-law, Vern Parkin, St. George. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Velma Campbell Parkin.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 1998 at 12:00 p.m. in the Midvalley Fifth Ward Chapel, 1106 East 8055 South, Sandy. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, and Wednesday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
