Secondly: Though the death certificate shows Elizabeth Sanders to be his mothers maiden name, that is also incorrect. This is easily understood when you see the sequence of events detailed below.
William Thomas Vaughn, John Shine Vaughn's father, was married twice.
He first married Sarah Sanders on March 19, 1844.
Sarah Sanders was born in 1826 and died March 5, 1863. She was born and died in Twiggs County, Georgia and is buried there as well.
Sarah and William T Vaughn were the parents of 10 children, before she died in 1863.
After her death, William Thomas Vaughn married her sister, Elizabeth Sanders.
They were married on June 4, 1863. There were no children from this marriage.
Elizabeth's first marriage was to William Herring.
Elizabeth was born Mar 15, 1814 and died in 1895.
