Hannah Jane Grimes was born in 1844 to Arthur Grimes and Sarah Reed. She was raised in Johnson County, IN, but the family moved to Crawford County, IL sometime between 1860 and 1864. Hannah married Isaiah Grubaugh in Crawford County on 26 Jul 1864. Isaiah is listed as a farmer in the 1870 census and in the 1880 census. He reportedly became a minister, but it must have been very late in life. Hannah and Isaiah had at least 9 children, with several of those dying very young or at birth. Their children are as follows: Charles Riley Grubaugh (1865-~1904), Sarah Beatrice Grubaugh Sweet (1867-1944), Anna Eliza Grubaugh (1869-1872), Oliver Grubaugh (1872-1876), Alice E. Grubaugh (1874->1895), Mary Emmaline Grubaugh York (1877-1899), Hattie Bell Grubaugh (1879-1892), Bertha M. Grubaugh (1883-1883), William Arthur Grubaugh (1886-1969). Isaiah died in 1887 at the age of 45 and Hannah died in 1895 at the age of 51.
