Isaiah Grubaugh was born in 1841 to David C. Grubaugh and Sarah S. Conkil. He was 7th of the 11 children born to his parents. Isaiah spent most of his life in Crawford County, IL. For most of his life, he worked as a farmer. Reportedly, much later in life, he became a minister. He married Hannah Jane Grimes on 26 Jul 1864. They had nine children, with 4 of them dying quite young. The children are listed in the memorial for Hannah Jane Grimes Grubaugh. Isaiah died in 1887 and Hannah died 8 years later in 1895. She never remarried.
