Memorial Services Held Friday

Funeral services for LaRell Anderson, well-known Vernal businessman and civic worker, were held Friday, April 7, in the Ashley-Maeser LDS Ward Chapel with burial in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson died April 4, 1978 in the Duchesne County Hospital in Roosevelt of a heart attack and complications from a fractured hip suffered in a fall at his home March 20. He was 72.

Founder of the Uintah Packing Company in 1964, he operated it until October 1, 1973, when it was taken over by a son, Don Anderson.

He and his family also pioneered, founded and operated the Grizzly Ridge ski area.

Mr. Anderson catered outdoor parties and barbecues for civic clubs and conventions for many years. He also was known as an impromptu singer of ballads and folk songs.

Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life, he was a High Priest in the Ashley Ward, Ashley Stake at the time of his death. Previously he had served several years in Eder's Quorum presidencies, taught Priesthood classes, served as chorister, and in Scouting. He received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Chamber of Commerce.

Albert LaRell Anderson was born February 23 1906 in Greenwich, Utah to Andrew and Emma Martinsen Anderson. On October 22, 1934 he married Maurine Lambert Jones in Twin Falls, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 20, 1937.

He is survived by his widow and sons of Vernal; Gary K., Court D., Brent A., Don S. and Kent L. 14 grandchildren and a brother, R.D. Anderson of Koosharem, Utah.

Services were under the direction of Bishop Wayne Swett. Family prayer was by Gary K. Anderson, prelude and postlude music was by DeArmon Betty; "Oh My Father" was sung by Jan King accompanied by Julia Hanson, invocation, Earl Goodrich, remarks by Bishop Swett "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" Tauline Anderson, accompanied by Melba Eaton; Eulogy, Jack Powell; speaker W. L. _________, I Have A Testimony" duet by Lora Burr and Pauline Harward, accompanied by Vaunda Anderson; "I Need Thee Every Hour," male quartet Norman Haslem, Kraden Wilson, Phillip Manwaring, Verdon Goodrich. Benediction was by Ashel Manwaring Dwight L. Jones, a brother-in-law; dedicated the grave.

Pallbearers were his sons, Gary K., Court D., Brent A., Don S., Kent L., and a nephew Jonathan Jones. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons ad the Ashley Stake High Priest's Quorum.

The Ashley Ward Relief Society was in charge of flowers and luncheon.
