FRIENDSHIP - Leona Mae
Freeman, 81, of 7 Elm St. died
Monday (June 30, 2003) at.
Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester,
following a lengthy illness.
Born April 14, 1922, in West
Almond, she was a daughter of
Lee and Lilly Bess Sadler. On
March 14, 1946, in Wellsville,
she married Donald W. Freeman,
who survives.
Mrs. Freeman had resided
most of her life in Wellsville and
Texas. She attended Wellsville
School District and had been
employed at Acme Electric Corp.
in Cuba for several years.
In 1959, she and her husband
moved to the Houston and
Kilgore, Texas, areas, and in 2002
they returned to New York state
and settled in Friendship.
Mrs. Freeman enjoyed picture
painting, reading, making Quilts
and drawing.
She had been a member of
the Wellsville Wesleyan Church
and later the Nazarene Church
in Wellsville, as well as the Grace
Baptist Church and its women's
group in Kilgore.
Surviving besides her husband
are three brothers, Lloyd
Sadler of Overton, Texas, Everett
(Madeline) Sadler of Indianapolis,
Ind., and Eugene (Jane)
Sadler of Alexandria, La.; a sister,
Gladys (O1iver) Pittsfield of
Houston; and many nieces and
nephews and grand-nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by four
brothers, Kenneth Sadler, Fred
Sadler, Leon Sadler and Stanley
Sadler; and a sister, Lillian Nix.
Friends called at the
Treusdell Funeral Home, in
Friendship.
Funeral and committal services
were held Saturday (July
5, 2003) at 10 a.m. The Rev.
Donald Beebe, pastor of the
Grace Baptist Church of Kilgore,
Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery,
Friendship.
