Delhi, LA
A celebration of homegoing for Mavis Adams Wood, 85, of Delhi will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the First United Pentecostal Church of Tallulah, 40 Crothers Drive, Tallulah, LA. Rev. Gregory Nichols, Pastor of First United Pentecostal Church in Tallulah and Rev. B. A. Spell, Pastor of Life Tabernacle in Baton Rouge, LA will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Tallulah church until time of services. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Delhi under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Sister Wood was a faithful member of Life Tabernacle in Baton Rouge from 1961 until 1981 and continued her walk with the Lord at the First United Pentecostal Church in Tallulah from 1981 until being called home to be with her Savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Pink Adams and Clara Leona Pickering Adams; six brothers, Lloyd, Herman, Troy, Sherman, Carl Edgar "Son" and William Pink "Dub" Adams Jr.; two sisters, Cora Lee Delaughter and Mildred Lee; a grandson Weston James LeDoux and a great grandson Jason Jordon.
She is survived by her children; Johnny Wood of Monroe, LA, Sam Bailey and wife Sandra of Natchez, MS, Erlene Brice and husband, Roy of Delhi, Shirley Welch and husband William of Minden, LA, Ruth McDonald of Baker, LA, and Brenda Wildman and husband, Dwayne of Zachary, LA; by a brother Floyd "Buddy" Adams of Walker, LA; two sisters, Alma Lambert of Monticello, MS and Margie Mason of Wisner, LA; fifteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Earl Lee Welch III, Glenn Ray Welch, David Bailey, Adam Mardean Welch, Rev. William Timothy Welch, Rev. Keith DeWayne Butler, Gary H. McDonald Jr. and Brandon M. LeDoux.
