Young August, together with his parents, and brothers Herman, Wilhelm, and Albert immigrated to the United States on the Habsburg leaving departure port of Bremen, Germany and arriving at the port of New York on April 19, 1881.

After arrival in New York, August and family went to Hiawatha, Kansas. Brother Frank was born while in Hiawatha and then the family re-located to Chicago, Illinois, where his parents had two daughters -- Frances and Claire.

August's mother Wilhelmina died in April 1888 in Chicago, IL and his father remarried later that year.

The 1900 census shows August as being single, living in Chicago Ward 15, Cook, Illinois and working as a cooper.

However, the Cook County Death Index shows August as being married. So far, I have not found any records or other clues, but the search continues . . .
