Ivan E. "Roy" Parkhurst was born November 14, 1928 in Butler, Oklahoma to Amanda and Elzie Hope Parkhurst. He passed away July 8, 2006 at Cordell, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Roy grew up in western Oklahoma and was married to Mary Ann McCaskill at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on November 27, 1954. He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. They lived in California before moving to Cheyenne and then to Burns Flat in 1975 to make their home. He loved his children, grandchildren and playing dominoes, golf and card games.
He was a member of the Burns Flat Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; 1 Daughter, Barbara Ann Goodall, LaVeta, CO; 2 sons, Ivan Parkhurst, Newcastle, Oklahoma and Donald Parkhurst, Seymour, TN; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Brother-in-Law & Sister-in-law Jimmy McCaskill and Sadlie Haney, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Burns Flat First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service, Elk City.
