On last Tuesday morning about 7:30 o'clock death felt its way into our home and broke the family circle by robbing us of our precious baby, Cecil Lafayette Brooks. He was borne Jan 22, 1902 and died Aug 2, 1903.

He was a very bright promising child with a sweet and affectionate disposition. Our home is so lonely without him. We cannot understand why this sweet little treasure should be taken from us unless it was too pure for earth's trials and temptations.

We do not mourn as those having no hope. We know that he will wear a spotless crown in Heaven.

His case was so complicated that he could not overcome the diseases. He first had measles, a few days later pneumonia and whooping cough developed. He lingered little more than seven weeks when at last the death Angel came and bore his little spirit home where no death nor suffering are.

The remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery at Antioch Church Wednesday evening at 2 o'clock.

The funeral services were conducted by Elder C.R. Miller in a very impressive manner.

The little crib is empty now,
The little clothes laid by,
A mother's hope, a father's joy,
In death's cold arm doth lie,
God needed one more Angel child,
Amidst His shining band,
And so He bent His loving smile,
And clasped our darling's hands.
Parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Brooks

There was an angel band in Heaven that was not quite complete. So God took our darling Cecil to fill the vacant seat."
