Cashmere was a 9 month old fluffy ball of fur when she was chosen from many at the Dallas Humane Society. She first went to live with a high school teacher and her other kitty in a small apartment.

After a year of trying to get Cashmere and the other kitty to socialize better, Cashmere came to live with me temporarily while another home was found for her. She quickly found her way into my heart. She was more like a puppy and followed me everywhere in the house.

Since Cashmere had had her front claws removed, she was never supposed to go outside. Somehow Cashmere could detect an open door before anyone else could. So many time I would look out a window and see this beautiful Himalayan cat strolling up the driveway and then it would dawn on me it was my baby.

She had a very light meow and loved to sleep in closets. It became the first place to look, when Cashmere was missing.

Then we added Jerry to our family. Jerry was a tri-colored rough collie. Cashmere at first regarded Jerry as an uninvited intruder to her domain. Then they became friends. They would chase each other through the house at full speed. Cashmere would hide behind a chair or the sofa and when Jerry went by, she would jump out and attack him and the play would begin. Jerry's tail was a great plaything as well. She would lay hidden on a kitchen chair pushed under the table and when Jerry walked by waving his beautiful tail, she just couldn't refuse another play session.
