Born December 19, 1924 in Bloomington, he was the son of Frank and Florence Agnes (Hadden) Hays.
Alva was a maintenance Foreman for Gerland Investments in Houston Texas. He served his country in World War II with the United Sates Army and Air Force. He attended Sylvania Wesleyan Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Victoria Hayse whom he married June 6, 1963; one daughter, Sharon Blair (Andy) of Spencer; two sons, Charles E. Bagby of Gulfport, Florida and John Hayse (Mary) of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Josh Reynolds, Sarah Hixon, Nathan Blair and A.J. Hayse; his great grandchildren, Trey Reynolds, Kaitlyn Reynolds, Kadyn Hixon and Kylie Hixon.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Reynolds, six brothers, three sisters and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Hindustan Christian Church cemetery north of Bloomington. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #18.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Greene County Humane Society.
