Sara Cooperman was born in Saint Louis, Mo. where she lived throughout the first half of her life. She was the child of Gussie Davis and Mr. Davis. She had several brothers and one step brother, Leo Samet.

When in her early twenties she sang with the Saint Louis, Mo. Muni Opera. She had a beautiful voice. She married and had a daughter Eleanor Applebaum, after having a miscarriage. Eleanor was a center of her universe. Sara worked hard being an owner of a lady's ready to wear store in south St. Louis. for many years. In the 1940's she met Perry Cooperman who was a small business man in Caruthersville, Mo. They married in the 1940's and Sara became the Step-Mother to Howard, Selma, Jack, Aileen and Irvin Cooperman who were all young adults. Jack met Sara's daughter Eleanor who was divorced with a small daughter, Ruth Ellen Thea. Jack and Eleanor fell in love and married. Sara became the grandmother of two more granddaughters, Gloria and Marilyn Cooperman. Eleanor and Jack lived near Sara for the remainder of Sara's life.

Sara was a loving mother and grandmother and also loved her son-in-law, Jack. Sara worked at the Cooperman and Son's Furniture Exchange in Caruthersville, Mo for several years in the 1960's. Sara also taught piano to her granddaughters. She enjoyed friends and her membership and friends at Temple Isreal in Blytheville, Ark. She was a member of the sisterhood at the Temple for many years.

Sara was a very loving, caring and gentle soul. Her marriage to Perry was not very happy, but she had few options being older at that time in her life. She found joy in her daughter, son in law, Jack, and grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

In her late 60's she developed a brain tumor and had several surgeries. Her last years were very difficult and ultimately she spent the last years of her life at the B'nai B'rith Home in Memphis, Tn. with frequent visits by her loved ones. She has been very missed over all these years.
