Died at age 65 years, 1 month and 8 days. She died at the Municipal Hospital in Belmond after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Cornelius and Ann Edell. When she was three, the family came to America, settling first in Pella, Iowa. They moved to Palco, Kansas when she was 16. She made her confession of faith in the Palco Christian Reformed Church and she was also united in marriage there to Jake DeWaard on May 11, 1912.
The DeWaard's moved to Dispatch, Kansas in 1915, leaving there in 1925 for Wright County, Iowa. Mr. DeWaard died suddenly February 24, 1950 and Mrs. DeWaard moved to a home in Kanawha, where she resided for the past five years.
She was survived by six children: Adrian DeWaard of Corwith; Clarence DeWaard of Britt; Mrs. George (Geraldine) Eenhuis, Jr. of Wesley; Mrs. Kenneth (Cyrena) Kinseth of Belmond; Mrs. Harm (Anna) Uken, and Mrs. Melvin (Nellie) Eliason, both of Kanawha.
She had 21 grandchildren, three brothers, Engel Edell of Oskaloosa and Dick and Herbert Edell of Smith Center, Kansas; six sisters, Mrs. Jack Hagenvroost of De Hauge, Holland; Mrs. John Kniper and Mrs. Ell Hogan of Prairie View, Kansas; Mrs. Frank Black of Lebanon, Kansas; Mrs. Henry Wichers of Lynden, Kansas, and Mrs. R. Berry of Downs, Kansas.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Her services were held at the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha with interment taking place in the Wright County Church
