Mildred V. Adkisson
Age 88 years, 11 months and three days, a resident of East Prairie, passed away Thursday May 27, 2010 at 3:25 a.m. in the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1921 in East Prairie to the late Lorenzie Dow & Ozetta Curry Hanor, Mildred lived in Mississippi County her entire life; she worked as a teacher's aide for 10 years in the R2 School District for Mrs. Juanita Anderson's Class. She was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

On January 31, 1940 she married Forrest Adkisson who preceded in death on March 18, 2000.

She is survived by one grandson, Alan & Sheila Collins of East Prairie; one brother, Frank & Imogene Hanor of East Prairie; two sisters, Mary Ruth & Buddy Morgan of Ada, Oklahoma and Evelyn & Floyd Thomasson of Melrose Park, Illinois; one great-granddaughter, Adrienne Collins of Cape Girardeau; her son-in-law, Thomas Collins of East Prairie; and a host of relatives and many friends.

Her daughter, Marilyn Collins; one grandson, Glenn Collins, four brothers, Ernest, L.D., Ray and Elbert Hanor; three sisters, Annie Mae Baker, Margaret Wilson and Vera Baker preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel with Bro. Mike Worrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie in charge of arrangements.
