Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Marshall M. "Doc" and Elyda (Phillips) Howard.
A member of Unity Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Reverend W. Eddie and Clarice Howard of Simpsonville; a brother, T.M. Howard of Travelers Rest; two grandchildren, Kelli Howard, Jason R. Howard and his wife, Michelle; and two great-grandsons.
Memorials could be made to Hillside Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 Hillside Church Road, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 13, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
Visitation was held prior to the services from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment was in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
